Syllabus:Introduction to the core concepts and methods in recruitment and selection. An analysis of various assessment procedures for use in selecting and/or promoting staff. Introduction to concepts relating to these assessment devices and to the factors involved in making decisions to apply selection assessment procedures.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have - Understanding of the selection process in both organizational recruitment and promotion. Assessed the appropriateness of an organisation's recruitment or promotion system. Recommended appropriateassessment procedures for use in selection and promotion systems. Indicated the flaws in any promotion or recruitment process.

Unit Assessment Breakdown: Assessment may consist of Individual Case 50%, Assignment 50%. This is done by grade/mark assessment. Assessment methods and procedures will be discussed in the first session. Participants will have some say in the format of the assessment process. Students must submit all assignment set, complete the exams and attend 80% of lectures if the course is to be assessed complete. Failure to complete the course results in a DNC - Did Not Complete - being awarded irrespective of the total mark obtained
