Syllabus:Mineralogical analysis, liberation, sampling, metallurgical balances particle size analysis and distribution functions, screening, classification, crushing, grinding, gravity separation, dense medium separation, washability curves, magnetic separation, electrostatic separation, ore sorting. Solid-liquid separations - flocculation, thickening, centrifuges, filtration, thermal drying.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- An appreciation for the scope of mineral processing operations. A theoretical background for some separation processes.
