Syllabus:Beef production in agricultural, pastoral and tropical areas, markets for beef. Breeds and breeding. Grazing management, feedlots, planning a beef cattle management program related to current and predicted markets for beef and the environmental limitation of a district, and the implementation of the plan.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have- Described beer production systems used in agricultural, pastoral and tropical areas of the world, and be able to identify the major constraints to beef production in these areas. Identified and described the major factors affecting the global beef market, identifying the major and new emerging beef markets. Described a beef breeding program that incorporated the principles of genetic improvement. Developed management programs for sustainable beef production in agricultural, pastoral and tropical areas. Described the principles of beef feedlot production and formulate rations suitable for use in beef feedlots. Formulated feed supplement suitable for use in grazing systems. Identified the major diseases affecting beef cattle.
