Syllabus:The subject area - basic principles, concepts and procedures used in curriculum materials currently available. Selection and writing of objectives appropriate to different groups of students. Developing learning sequences in the subject area. Selecting materials and media. Evaluation - student progress and of the unit. Techniques for evaluating progress - place of evaluation in the subject and in the classroom. Provision for evaluation in curriculum materials and guidelines.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Discussed the aims and philosophies of English at the secondary level. Become familiar with the Curriculum Framework and the English Learning Outcomes. Become familiar with Student Outcome Statement in English and how to address this in developing a teaching-learning and assessment programme. demonstrated their understanding by constructing and resorting a two week (8 lesson) program of work based on a specific unit. Demonstrated a familiarity with the texts - fiction, non-fiction, transactional, media and non-print texts addressed in the English learning area. Examined, discussed and employed teacher-learning strategies which focus on specific areas of concern within the English course. Formulated instructional objectives consistent with needs and cognitive development of different groups of students.
