Syllabus:The subject area - basic principles, concepts and procedures used in curriculum materials currently available. Aims and objectives - practice in the selection and writing of objectives appropriate to different groups of students. Structure and organisation - practice in developing learning sequences in the subject area. Materials and media - principles for selecting materials and media. Evaluation - difference between evaluation of student progress and of the course. Techniques for evaluation.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have- Become familiar with the content of the lower school Business Education and Computing curriculum in a time of transition from unit curriculum to implementation of the Curriculum Framework and Student Outcome Statements. Become familiar with assessment, grading, moderation, levelling and reporting procedures in the Technology and Enterprise Learning Area, with a focus on Business Education and Computing. Become familiar with different types of educational planning, including time planning, programming, lesson plans and the development of appropriate teaching resources. Developed a unit of work: course outcomes, time plan, assessment structure, teaching program, lesson plans, teaching resources and assessment items. Developed an understanding of a variety of appropriate teaching and learning strategies for Business Education and Computing courses. Demonstrated an understanding of a variety of assessment techniques and instruments and understood how they can be used to gather relevant information about student progress. Developed knowledge, skills and flexibility in time planning, programming and assessment development based on the Curriculum Framework for a selected lower school subject.
