Syllabus:Advanced level of communication skills, professional behaviour and ability to address legal and ethical issues related to sports physiotherapy practice. All assessments and management in sports physiotherapy are based on an advanced level of clinical reasoning. An advanced level of theoretical and clinical specialised competency in prevention, assessment and rehabilitation of sports specific injuries. Considers current research findings to evaluate the level of evidence for the efficacy of sports physiotherapy practice. Supervised clinical experience in sports injury clinics, armed services and private practice. Sports coverage for competitive events. Advanced level of documentation and report writing.
 
Unit Outcomes: On the successful completion of the unit the student will have - Demonstrated advanced knowledge of sports physiotherapy approaches in assessment, clinical diagnosis and management. Demonstrated advanced levels of effective communication with the athlete, members of the sports health team and other personnel within the sports model, including professional peers. Demonstrated professional behaviour appropriate to sports physiotherapy. Developed an awareness of legal and ethical issues related to sports physiotherapy. Implemented an advanced clinical reasoning framework for all aspects of assessment, clinical diagnosis and management in sports physiotherapy practice. Demonstrated an advanced level of theoretical and clinical competency in the assessment, clinical diagnosis and management of sports specific injuries. Demonstrated an advanced level of theoretical and clinical competency in the prevention and acute management of injuries in the sports environment. Demonstrated an advanced level of documentation and report writing related to sports physiotherapy clinical assessment and management. Evaluated levels of evidence for the efficacy of sports physiotherapy approaches when managing sports injuries.
