Syllabus:Encourages the active exploration of design research methodologies, practice and application through set activities and excursions, aimed to investigate design in its social and cultural context. Activities will include visiting local exhibitions, department stores, on-line archives, museum , zoo, reading texts, discussing issues in a seminar environment and keeping critical reflective comments in your critical journal.
 
Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit students will have - Demonstrated understanding of design in its social and cultural context. Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate design work and engage in reflective practice. Demonstrated understanding of design practice and research methodologies.
