Syllabus:

Examination of ecological frameworks appropriate to the individual, family and community. Classification of a specific range of disabilities, function, impairment, activity and participation. Assessment and strategies for intervention and evaluation in developmental disabilities.

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - Used a range of theoretical models as a means to analyse the relationship between the child and his and her family and community on developmental outcomes. Identified and described aetiology, symptoms, impairments and impacts on participation and activity in developmental disabilities. Evaluated appropriate assessments and described their value for the purposes of intervention in childhood disabilities. Evaluated a range of interventions and selected appropriate strategies and techniques to meet the needs of the child within their environment.
