Syllabus:Electricity and magnetism, optics, light as an electromagnetic wave, introduction to quantum mechanics and solid state physics.
 
Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit students should be able to - Understand the concepts and principles of electricity, magnetism, optics and modern physics. Apply the principles of electricity, magnetism, optics and modern physics in solving problems in the laboratory and daily life. Do quantitative and qualitative analysis of experimental results. Carry out laboratory experiments and present written lab reports in collaboration with peers. Apply critical thinking, time management and team work in groups. Integrate understanding of the relationship between theory, laws, definitions and mathematical formulae.
