Syllabus:Calculus - Differentiation and methods of differentiation. Application of differentiation maxima and minima, rectilinear motion, rate and related rate. Integration and methods of integration. Numerical integration. Algebra - Partial fractions, sequences and series, power series, remainder and factor theorem and numerical method for roots of equations. Linear algebra - Matrices and their inverses, determinant of matrices and Cramer's rule. Complex analysis - Notations and forms of complex numbers and their interconversion, roots of complex number and De Moivre's theorem.

Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit, students will be able to - Differentiate between the terms derivative and integral and see the relation between them. Understand, appreciate and see the limitation of the use of numerical analysis in algebra and calculus. Express complex numbers in different forms and determine the form that is suitable for the evaluation of roots and the derivation of theorem. Generalize patterns observable from given situations. Integrate and apply content knowledge in algebra and calculus to solve a variety of problems. Justify the convergence and divergence of series using a variety of methods and their limitations. Use scientific calculator effectively to solve problems in linear algebra and calculus. Work independently and collaboratively to understand, formulate and solve problems and communicate this orally and in writing.
