Syllabus:Develops language, study skills and confidence in approaching and critically responding to a variety of written and audiovisual discourse forms. The importance of organising ideas and planning before responding - working through the transition of thinking in the first language to thinking in English.
 
Unit Outcomes: Upon completion of this course the student will be able to - write proficient argumentative essays, research appropriate topics and write an extended essay demonstrating - critical and original thinking, in-text and end-of-text referencing skills, quotation skills. Effectively use tools such as brainstorming and planning. Demonstrate independent learning skills at a level appropriate to tertiary education. Develop communication skills both verbal and written in English. Use the computer to submit and retrieve assignments.
