Syllabus:An examination of general trends in the international system between 1917 and present, the role of major powers, regional studies, history of Kazakhstan, its development as an independent state, main aspects of Kazakh foreign policy, concept of national securty, relations with neighbour states and major powers and the United Nations.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have been - Introduced to the main aspects of International Relations developments between 1917 and the present time. Able to demonstrate the role of the Republic of Kazakhstan is playing in the international system. Understand Kazakhstan's relations with the worlds major players - the United States of America, Europe, Russia and the relations beteen Kazakhstan and the United Nations.
