Syllabus:Provides graduate practitioners with advanced skill and theory development in the field of work place downsizing, management duty of care, work time flexibility and employment restructuring of welfare agencies. In recent years the corporate and commercial nature of social work organisations have tested the communication ability of managers to work cooperatively with other professional staff. A number of current approaches in mediation around the use of risk management, quality work improvement, governance and executive coaching techniques has provided a medium for exploring new approaches in team work and leadership collaboration. An exploration of such dimensions and the skills and theory needed to facilitate mediation methodology in the corporate welfare environment.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Facilitated advanced practice skills in the fields of employee relations and training. Employed mediation practices to improve management communication with line staff and other professionals in the workplace. Explored current theoretical perspectives on mediation that address the issues of negligence and diversity of change in practice. Encouraged practitioners to apply current course materials to their research, training and project undertakings in the place of work.
