Syllabus:Initiatives in sustainable development policies and democratic politics. State and the non governmental sector as partners in national development. Identifying issues and needs at the local level, politics of working in the non-governmental sector, developing and managing social policies in development. Development worker as manager and roles of advocacy in policy development. Ethics, rights and practices of social development in the community.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- The capacity to examine development policies from the perspective of the client. The ability to develop and advocate social policies for social development. Competence in the management of development related projects and organisations. An understanding of the dilemmas of development confronting development workers. The capacity to incorporate human rights and ethics in appropriate development.
