Syllabus:Different countries' financing and organisational structures, including insurance and patient payment regimes. The implications of these for cost control, efficiency and equity. Examination of comparative levels of spending internationally and the question of what one country can learn from others.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have - Critiqued different systems of organisation and financing of health care systems. Assessed the strengths and weakness of the student's own country's system. Interpreted policy shifts in financingof the systems and parts of it, for example hospitals. Critiqued changes in other countries and assessed their relevance to the student's own country.
