Syllabus:Major safety risks in mines. Management of mine safety. Mine rescue - policies, procedures and practice. Mine regulations - development and present status worldwide. Western Australia mining regulations. Enforcement of regulations and mine inspections. Professional ethics.
 
Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit students will have - Developed an understanding of ethics and duty of care, the importance of safety on the mine site, risk management in mining and a close familiarity with the Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994 and the Mines Safety and Regulations 1995.
