Syllabus:

Compiling a detailed and comprehensive research proposal including a world-wide literature review, study design, objectives and hypotheses, development of a theoretical frame of reference, detailed research methodology suitable for the doctoral level anddevelopment of instruments for data gathering, methods of data analyses, research ethics, detailed timetable and research budget.

Unit Outcomes:

Establish the research topic. Carry out a literature search. Establish the main objectives, aims and hypotheses. Identify the study design and the methodology of the research. Identify the necessary instruments for data gathering. Identify the type of data required and the methods of data analyses. Acquire the relevant ethical approval as it applies to the research. Plan a detailed timetable. Formulate a research budget.
