Syllabus:Design for wind and seismic forces - codes, shear walls, core walls. Design of shell structures - cylindrical shells, domes, hyperbolic paraboloid. Design of composite members - deflection, shear, shear connectors, economic aspects.
 
Unit Outcomes: The student will gain a deeper understanding of the behaviour of structures, particularly tall structures under lateral loads. The student will also establish basic proficiency in the methodology of analysis and design for lateral forces on structures and for plates and shells.
