Syllabus:Histology/histopathology of selected organs; Methodology of their preparation which includes cryostat and paraffin sections, H an E and special stains, histochemistry, microscopy examination and diagnosis.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have- Competence in all routine and some special histological techniques and be able to independently implement those procedures in the work place. Understood the diagnostic process and when and why special stains and histochemical reactions are required, and be able to perform and critically evaluate these procedures. Effectively identified and understood the structure and function of tissues and organs in their appreciation of the importance of the surgical specimen. Developed a basic knowledge of some of the differences between normal and abnormal tissues and be able to appreciate related introductory pathophysiological concepts.
