Syllabus:Builds on Teaching and Learning Processes II by providing an in-depth study of play, the learning environment and the role of the teacher, to enable an extended study of play in an educative environment. The focus on child centred learning is maintained through investigating the project approach in the early years, and developing management and evaluation skills to support this pedagogy.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have - Developed an understanding of the role of play in children's learning and development. This knowledge will be demonstrated through class discussions, the essay and the planning of the project. Developed the skills and understandings of how to plan to support child-centred learning and to manage children's behaviour to maximise learning. Developed the ability to analyse children's actions to assess and evaluate children's learning and development.
