Tutorial:1 x 20 Hours 4 Weekly
Co Requisite(s):301736 (v.3) Hydrocarbon Phase Behaviour 606 or any previous version
Syllabus:Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) processing, Gas absorption versus fractionation, Cooling in gas processing, Gas absorption/stripping cycles for liquid recovery, Adsorption vs. absorption, San Juan expander plant - cooling and separation by expansion, Gas dehydration, Gas Sweetening, Condensate stabilisation, Three phase separation, Water treatment for injection, re-injection and disposal, Gas re-injection and compression, Gas/Oil transmission.

Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit students will have - Been presented with an overview of the petroleum industry, from the wellhead to the marketplace, with emphasis on gas plant process operations. Used the overall process flowsheet to illustrate how the various operations are integrated into plants capable of handling diverse feeds of oil and gas. The key processes of dehydration and sweetening, 3-Phase separation, CO2 removal, ethane and natural gas liquids (NGL) recovery, demulsification and NGL production operations will have been emphasised. A student who has completed this unit will be able to follow a career in surface production operations.
