Syllabus:Exploration the development of the embryo including developmental anatomy of the major thoracic and abdominopelvic viscera but including details of the body wall musculature and its innervation, development of limbs, and factors which meditate cell proliferation, differentiation and cell death.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have- Described the transition from bilaminar to trilaminar embryonic disc, with regard to body wall, body cavities and their contained viscera. Explained the significance of basic embryological development of thoracic and abdominopelvic viscera to their adult structure and functional properties. Outlined the way in which the developing human co-ordinates cellular proliferation in a general and regional way. Explained the principles by which the developing human differentiates cells and tissues to achieve the required patterns. Worked co-operatively with other students in analysis of recent literature, and in the development of communication tasks.
