Syllabus:Analysis of exploration and mining systems using mathematical programming, simulation techniques and network models. Applications to pit optimisation, mine development, production scheduling, work planning, equipment replacement and maintenance and ventilation design. Spreadsheet medelling applications. Case studies and literature study assignments.
 
Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit the ability will be achieved to apply operations research techniques, particularly linear programming, simulation and network models to solve real-world mine planning problems adn to do this using spreadsheet modelling.
