Syllabus:Primary and secondary socialisation. Establishing and maintaining family relationships. Cultural diversity and awareness in families. Pathways to family and social dysfunction. Impact of addictive behaviour on families. Bioethical issues in families and communities.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have- Discussed primary and secondary socialisation in promoting healthy family processes. Described factors that lead to family dysfunction. Explored sociocultural and community variations in family relationships. Examined the effects of psychosocial issues on individuals, familities and communities.
