Syllabus:Professional role development - autonomy and accountability. Bioethics and nursing practice - professional codes of conduct. Legal issues in nursing practice - professional rights and responsibilities in law. Quality patient care - professional standardsand evidence-based practice. Indicators of quality patient care. Communicating professionalism - professional resumes.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have - Identified the principles of professional nursing practice. Outlined the ethical and legal frameworks for professional practice. Discussed contemporary bioethical and legal issues related to professional nursing practice. Discussed the principles of evidence-based practice in relation to quality patient care. Developed the skills to prepare a professional resume.
