Syllabus:Introduction to data and communication networks, network architectures, protocol hierarchies, OSI Reference Model, network management, SNMP and ISO standards.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have gained an understanding of network architecture and management through a focus on two specific areas of study - the theoretical analysis of networks and the practical administration of data communications systems.
