Syllabus:	Negotiated study program where students write their own contract in consultation with staff. They have the opportunity to evolve, from the broad range of experience offered in the course, an individual plan for the execution of a body of work to be exhibited at the end of the year. Students are counselled in the development and planning stages and further support (conceptual and practical) is given in the resolution of ideas. Students are expected to participate fully in the staging of their exhibition including selection of venue, compilation of catalogue and arrangements for opening night.
Unit Outcomes:	On successful completion of this unit, students will have- An appreciation of the process of developing a personal conceptual foundation for jewellery design practice. Demonstrated an appropriate level of independent judgement, imagination and commitmentfor the successful planning and progress of a cohesive body of work for exhibition and production. Confidently selected and developed skills, strategies and imaginative ideas for the conceptualisation and realisation of an object(s). Used independent exploratory processes as a means of investigating, progressing ideas and translating their potential into resolved works. Employed independent research skills as a means of investigating materials and processes, where appropriate source expertise in the community. Shown evidence of critical thinking and the ability to present sound arguments for ideas - written and oral, articulating concepts central to the students own practice. Demonstrated a sound understanding and knowledge of contemporary practice in jewellery design and begin to locate ones own practice. Successfully created a body of work and participated in the processes associated with its exhibition.
