Syllabus:The opportunity to evolve and recognise the skills and personal concerns which will become central to their practice as they progress through the course and move into careers as independent artists/designers. It provides experience in working at jewellery and precious object making, aligning conceptual development with the learning of numerous traditional skills and processes associated with jewellery and metal-smithing. In addition, students are encouraged to be innovative with these skills and processes, expanding the traditional vocabulary and finding unique solutions to the problems posed by their creative ambitions.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Developed imaginative ideas, intentions and experiences for which the student is able to access primary sources. Demonstrated an appropriate level of independent judgement, imagination and commitment in the progress of projects. Selected and developed imaginative strategies in the conceptualisation and resolution of projects. Used new skills in exploring and making jewellery and precious objects. Used exploratory processes as a means of investigating and progressing ideas. Demonstrated an appropriate level of documenting ideas and presenting them effectively.
