Syllabus:The quantitative and qualitative methodologies commonly encountered in behavioural science as well as the ethical issues involved in conducting such research. Selected topics covered include - experimental design, survey research and questionnaire design, correlational and differential methods, naturalistic observation, case study research and qualitative approaches.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Have an in depth appreciation of ethical issues relating both to the treatment of research participants and to the integrity of science in general. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the research methodologies and designs used in the behavioural sciences. Have practical experience in data collection techniques. Convey summary information (in written format) for a variety of data types.
