Syllabus:An introduction to the major theoretical issues of contemporary art with a strong emphasis given to contemporary practice. Theories of seeing and of cultural production are examined and illustrated through examples of contemporary art practices.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Been provided with philosophical and contextual frameworks for professional practice in the visual arts. Acquired the necessary skills to understand the complexities and uncertainties of contemporary art practice. Gained the skills to be able to engage with and and critique contemporary art practice. They will become informed and gain perspective from which to articulate their own practice as emerging artists.
