Syllabus:Provides DCA students with the opportunity for exploring salient theories, practices and research methodologies in visual culture. Students present the theoretical and practical parameters of their discipline through presentations of central readings in their fields and through particular research projects. Presentations provide all students with information regarding the 'state of the art' in relation to research fields, and the opportunity of peer advice regarding individual research.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Identified the central research methodologies and debates in the field. Defined the central research questions of the thesis. Articulated the central hypothesis of the thesis. Identifies the central research methodologies of the thesis. Determined the form of the documentary evidence of the research. Mastered bibliographic and citation format relevant to written portions. Drafted, workshopped and revised their candidacy proposals. Become efficient in the listening/thinking/speaking skills of constructive and successful workshop participation.
