Syllabus:Humanities Foundation 011 aims to assist students to develop the skills required for mainstream university study in the humanities. Students will gain an understanding of the role the humanities play in society, the nature of the various disciplines, employ a wide variety of strategies as they write appropriately to communicate with different audiences and for different purposes. Apply knowledge of language structure, language conventions, media techniques and genre to create, critique, and discuss printand non-print texts.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have - The necessary skills for mainstream study in a humanities area. Experience of participation in a mainstream unit. Basic knowledge of core ideas in humanities. An understanding of the workload and expectations of mainstream study.
