Syllabus:Physiological, psychological, sociocultural, developmental and spiritual dimensions of care, human response patterns, legal and ethical frameworks, reflective practice, models that inform midwifery practice, advanced clinical practice.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have - Demonstrated the ability to evaluate the nature and scope of midwifery practice within a family centred context. Demonstrated competency in providing quality midwifery care for childbearing families in a variety of settings. Utilised a conceptual framework which integrates physiological, psychological, sociocultural, developmental and spiritual dimensions of maternity care. Utilised an ethical and legal framework in the provision of midwifery care, irrespective of the physiological, psychological, sociocultural, developmental or spiritual status of clients. Demonstrated effective learning and reflective skills which enhance professional development. Responded proactively to changes which impact on the delivery of maternity care, including advances in health care management and trends, policy or legislation.
