Syllabus:Issues associated with mental promotion prevention and early intervention with a particular emphasis on universal, selective and indicated prevention strategies. Definitions, epidemiology, models and national goals, targets and policies will be discussed. Focus on specific cycle issues and priority groups, in Australia and Internationally.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Analyse the nature and scope of mental health and mental ill health, mental health promotion and prevention in the mental health field. Describe the application of a range of public health strategies that support prevention, early intervention and promotion in the mental health field. Conceptualise risk factors and protective factors influencing mental health status. Identify and analyse population target groups, interventions and settings from a research evidence base.
