Syllabus:Pathology, pathomechanics, epidemiology, aetiology, symptomatology, diagnosis and differential diagnosis of spinal, peripheral joints and conditions. Diagnostic tests. Issues associated with special sports groups and sports medicine.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have identified and diagnosed radiographs for spinal joint pathologies and conditions. Demonstrated an understanding of pathology, diagnosis, differential diagnosis pathomechanics, aetiology including current surgical procedures for the spine. Developed an advanced level of theoretical and clinical specialised competency in pathology, pathomechanics, epidemiology, aetiology, symptomatology, diagnosis and differential diagnosis of spinal joints and conditions. Developed an appreciation of the psychological aspects related to an injured athlete. Developed an understanding of the use and abuse of drugs in sport and its long term implications and effects on athletes. Developed an advanced level of theoretical and clinical specialised competency in the different issues and special groups related to sports and sports injuries.
