Syllabus:Imaging Anatomy - Radiographic, surface and applied anatomy of the upper and lower extremities, shoulder and pelvic girdles and the vertebral column. Application of geometric principles and axial relationships to the interpretation of radiographic anatomy.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit the student will be able to identify, outline and describe the anatomy demonstrated on radiographs the upper extremity and shoulder girdle, the lower extremity and pelvic girdle and the vertebral column. They will have gained sufficient knowledge to define and state examples of anatomical and positioning terminology, describe selected abnormalities and fractures which may alter the appearances of the radiographic anatomy of the extremities, girdles and vertebral column, locate and describe the landmarks, lines and planes which are used to assist in the positioning of the extremities, girdles and vertebral column for radiographic examinations, and apply geometric principles and axial relationships to the interpretation of radiographic anatomy and the extremities, girdles and vertebral column. They will be able to describe the anatomical regions and spaces associated with the extremities and girdles, relate blood vessels to the extremities, girdles and vertebral column and identify them on contrast radiographs of the extremities and relate the nervous and lymphatic systems to the extremities, girdles and vertebral column.
