Syllabus:The development and final presentation requirements of the body of original design work, is agreed upon in consultation with your assigned academic supervisor. The design project reflects your interests and specific design ability and informed by the scholarly experiences and research activities. The submission of a research outline is required for approval, by the academic supervisor, by the fourth week of the semester. It will include - Title, statement of the research problem, aims, objectives, theoretical / methodology framework, projected outcomes, and a critical path / timetable for its execution and a detailed statement of the nature of the final submission to be assessed, including (where relevant) weightings and assessment criteria.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have - Critically evaluated design work and proposed innovative solutions to design problems. Undertaken and completed a rigorous program of design research. Systematically constructed a critical design development strategy and documented and communicated this to both expert and lay audiences. Identified and sourced all critical information necessary to the rigorous pursuit of design problems, including an understanding of relevant design methodologies. Executed, to the highest professional design standards, an innovative design proposal and presented this for peer assessment in the public domain.
