Syllabus:Client based program where students write their own contract in consultation with staff. A production project which requires students to design prototypes and where appropriate resource some of their processes from the industry. It is designed to establish a firm foundation for independent practice in the establishment of personal goals, consolidation and teaching of skills and the undertaking of research necessary to realise creative ambitions. During this project the student will explore workshop management and production processes appropriate to their production project.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Developed an advanced level of knowledge and skills related to professional practice as a contemporary jeweller. Developed and understanding of efficient production methods for small batch manufacture of contemporary jewellery. Selected, analysed and developed ideas for the design and making of contemporary precious jewellery. Developed an appropriate level of independent judgement and commitment in the successful initiation and progress of practical projects. Developed drawing skills and quality of presentation. Developed an awareness of the cultural and commercial contexts of contemporary jewellery. Linked practical projects of this unit with the requirements of the theoretical unit. Developed an awareness of safe work practices in the operation of a jewellery workshop.
