Syllabus:Objectives of financial management, financial mathematics, investment decisions (evaluation methods), investment decisions (cash flow determination), Australian capital markets, cost of capital, capital structure, leasing, risk and return, introduction to portfolio theory and the capital asset pricing model (CAPM) and introduction to options and futures.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have- The basic concepts and principles of finance relevant to the accounting profession. Been introduced to finance theory as it applies to financial processes, products and institutions. Developed a foundation in finance. Taken a systematic approach, particularly for the more difficult topics, which progressed from an intuitive presentation of the problem to the introduction and illustration of the appropriate analytical framework.
