Syllabus:A weekly seminar and emphasising professional development as a counselling psychologist. Ethical awareness and competence. Topics include - the practice of counselling psychology in various settings, the development of personal intervention models, inter and intraprofessional relationships, contracting for supervision. Professional practice and negligence.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have - Understanding of the ethical issues involved in the practice of professional psychology. Professional development in the practice of psychology ie. Sensitivity to special issues in therapeutic and professional relationships, such as bias related to gender or sexual preference, Appreciation of inter-professional relationships and professionally identify as a counselling psychologist. Development of a personal model for interventions. Extended professional knowledge in selected areas, such as the DSMIV, issues associated with repressed memories and supervision.
