Syllabus:

Definitions of religious education - post-Vatican II issues for religious education. An examination of past and present curriculum models used in religious education. A review of the relationship between theories of human development, faith development, religious and spiritual development. The place of evaluation and assessment in a religious education program. A review of current issues and their possible impact on the teaching of religious education.

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have- Articulated a number of the critical issues involved in developing a curriculum for religious education. Related a variety of curriculum models to the specific task of teaching religious education in Catholic or Christian schools. Applied the principles of curriculum design in religious education in their own teaching situation. Formulated appropriate criteria for evaluation within a religious education programme.
