Syllabus:Varies from year to year but will normally include development strategies and the historical experience of Asian economies. The role of government in Asian economic development - including macroeconomic management, policy towards foreign direct investment, education and domestic savings, trade and industry policy. Regional economic cooperation, integration, economies in transition.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have- Appreciated contempory economic issues in this region. Knowledge of an important marriage of theory and policy that improves their analytical skills.
