Syllabus:The research process, range of alternative research methodologies, description and analysis of research methodologies appropriate to the conduct of research in various aspects of Information Systems. Inquiry into emerging issues in Information Systems, IS research frameworks, the appropriate use of statistical data analysis in Information Systems research projects, qualitative and quantitative research in Information Systems, the content of Information Systems research proposals. The use of research software tools.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Identify the key research topics in the IS discipline. Argue the strengths and weaknesses of a variety of IS research methods. Undertake a literature review with appropriate referencing. Understand the philosophical foundations of knowledge. Prepare a research proposal for a dissertation or a project.
