Syllabus:An introduction to the position of art theory within the broader context of contemporary philosophy, cultural studies and critical theory.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Knowledge of the various theories of art which have influenced art practice over the past five decades. Identified pertinent theoretical positions relevant to aspects of their practice as artists. Employed various theoretical positions in analysing their own artwork and that of other artists.
