Syllabus:Analysis and application of the concepts and precepts of role theory to advanced nursing practice in a specialty area. Role creation, design and evaluation. Development of a conceptual framework for the role of the advanced nurse that includes, but is not limited to, the subroles of leader, change agent, consultant and collaborator.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have - Demonstrated the ability to evaluate nursing and related research findings in terms of their relevance in role theory to advanced nursing practice. Synthesised a conceptual nursing practice modelappropriate for use in clinical practice with selected populations. Conceptualised advanced nursing practice from the perspective of its multiple role demands and responsibilities in the nursing care of client population. Demonstrated the capacity to utilise a theory base in defining and implementing the chosen functional role. Adapted the unique dimensions of the function role to his or her individual defined professional and personal goals and abilities. Synthesised the advanced nurse role with the chosen functional role.
