Prerequisite(s):11317 (v.4) WASM Resource Geology 112 or any previous version
Syllabus:Field mapping, equipment, positioning and recording. Dip and strike determination. Section measurement. Map interpretation exercises. Concepts of photogeology and remote sensing. Elementary photogrammetry, geological interpretation of aerial photographs,production of geological maps from such photographs. Application of data sensed from satellites. Field mapping exercise involving a local area of approximately 2 km2 with comparatively simple geology. The map to be submitted by the last day of the semester in which the work is undertaken.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have the ability to record and present field observations and prepare a geological map.
