Syllabus:Out-patient and in-patient dispensing services, drug distribution systems, drug information. Monitoring drug therapy and patient counsel ling. Preparation of non-sterile products including the application of quality assurance requirements. Hospital prescribing, including appropriate guidelines and other relevant policies. Interpretation of laboratory investigations including drug assays. Appreciate clinical pharmacy services and other aspects of hospital practice.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have demonstrated the ability to undertake all prescription related activities in hospital pharmacy. Developed the ability to be able to monitor patients drug therapy. Demonstrated an appreciation of the organisational aspects of hospitals and hospital pharmacy. Developed the ability to manufacture or prepare non-sterile pharmaceutical products. Developed the skills to retrieve information and respond appropriately to medication-related enquiries. Demonstrated good written and verbal communication skills, and an appreciation of clinical pharmacy services and other specific aspects of hospital pharmacy practice.
