Syllabus:Introduction to general geology. Crystallography - the rock forming minerals, physics and chemistry of the Earth, plate tectonics and the geological cycle. Igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic petrology. Stratigraphy, geological time and maps. Structural geology.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have an understanding of basic geological principles.
