Syllabus:Hydrological factors affecting mine water inflow, origin of mine water, pumping test calculations, effect of ground water on surface mine stability, water inflow prediction techniques, water problems in underground mining, dewatering techniques, design of pumps and pumping stations, mine inundations, mine water quality and pollution, inflow prediction, working under the body of water.
 
Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit students will have - Understood hydrological factors affecting mine water inflow and origin of mine water. Performed pumping test calculations. Calculated the effect of water on surface mine stability. Understood water inflow prediction techniques and water problems in underground mining. Understood dewatering techniques. An understanding of the design principles of pumps and pumping stations. Assessed the impact of mine inundations, Mine water quality and pollution, inflow prediction and working under a body of water.
