Unit Outcomes: On completion of this course and Foundation Maths 042, students will have a mathematics background suitable for entry into a first year non-Science oriented tertiary course. The aim of the course is to ensure that students have a firm understanding of the mathematical concepts covered in Australian high schools and that they are familiar with the correct terminology. To this end, the two courses will cover the material in the high school courses Introductory Calculus (Year 11) and Applicable Mathematics (Year 12). Students completing the course will have a firm foundation on which to build their tertiary studies where some knowledge of mathematics is required.
Unit Texts: Introductory Calculus by AJ Sadler - 2nd Edition. Applicable Mathematics by AJ Sadler. Tables and Formulae - Mathematical Formulae and Statistical Tables for Tertiary Institutions.
